Foraging toys are vital part of your pet birds environment. The absence of appropriate toys will result in boredom in your pet birds and contribute to emotional and behavior issues. Bird toys are available in a large selection of choice, varieties and designs. Toys will provide a healthy and mentally stimulating environment for your feather friend. In this post I will explain the difference in foraging toys and how to choose one that is right for your bird.

Definition: Foraging toy can be anything the enables birds to search for food, even another food.

Foraging toys are used to enrich our birds lives but they must meet some requirements – simply requirements are chewable, educational, or reusable. Foraging toys provide, excellent outlet to require your bird to work for its food. In the wild birds spend most of their days searching for food, keeping their bodies and minds active. Examples of foraging toys are those in which treats can be hidden, skewered and or imbedded.

Chewable and Reusable foraging toys are made up of delicious food, treats or chewable material that are wrapped, hidden, or placed inside or outside a cage that provides our pet birds to work out how to retrieve them. A lot of foraging toys are made of natural materials like bamboo, sisal, cocona, coconut, seagrass, loofah, willow, pinewood, and ocean shells. the colors utilized in the toys are made of non-toxic vegetable dyes.

Chewable foraging toys provides and encourages our birds to rip, chew and destroy to be able to get a treat that is inside. Reusable and educational foraging toys gets our birds to move, twist or turn toy mechanics to retrieve their treat. This gives them the opportunities to learn new ways to use their beaks and feet. When choosing a foraging toy look for:

Variety – You must have a variety of various toys that you just will rotate in your bird’s enclosure daily. Even moving a favorite toy to a new replacement location will spur totally different movement patterns and build your bird’s interest and play.
